Alexandra
Hi SoSalseros! My name is Alexandra Buczynski (23 years old) and I am an Art History student at Leiden University. In 2005 I took some courses at the Cultural Centre and got to know the salsastudents mailing list. After a break of 1,5 years I reacquainted myself with salsa in October 2007. These salsa lessons led to my first salsa parties, which led to me becoming a member of SoSalsa! and joining SoShow! and the SoWee! committee. In October this year I joined the SoSalsa! board as President. Busy busy, so try to find me at our parties for a dance!
Serge
Hola Sosalseros y Sosalseras! My name is Serge and I'm an Electrical Engineering student. I started dancing salsa almost 2 years ago. It took me a year to realize that the SoSalsa! crowd was my kind of crowd, thus I became a member of SoSalsa!, where I immediately joined the Sowee! committee. After helping organize the Owee I was approached to form the new board and became the Treasurer of 2008/2009.
Marjolein
Hi there
I'm Marjolein Overtoom (22) and a proud member of SoSalsa! The first year of existence I promised to become a member the coming year, and look where I stranded. Besides these great SoSalsa! acitivities I have another life. That includes studying architecture (3rd year) and psychology (2nd year). I also did a lot of ballet before salsa (an astounding amount of 14 years) and gymnastics. For more info about me, just try to catch me inbetween activities and we'll have a nice conversation about philosophy
Nick
Hello, people know me as Nick Verwaal. It has already been 2 years since I arrived here in delft, it was the beginning of me studying Mechanical engineering and applying for a salsa course. The last decision has led slowly but surely to something which of all things I would have found least likely to happen at the time: to end up in the SoSalsa Board. My experience so far with SoSalsa beside the regular borrels and parties, consist of being in the SoWee committee. As the PR-commisionar of SoSalsa! My goal of this year is to get our society even better known under all the students of our beautiful city and beyond.
Maja
Coming to a new and unknown environment as an international students to master MSc of Geomatics, I started with many activities, trying this and that. I did some salsa (half a year) in my home town Ljubljana, so I said whay not try it also here and joined the Jan & Vivian lectures (intermediate and advanced). From this point I soon got connection to SoSalsa! society. I found out, it gives great mixture of music (great rithms) and moving (can't be still!), joining with nice people (that is not so easy to find) and having fun all around. Seems also board 2 noticed my enthusiasm and asked me for »boarding«. What a great honour, to try out dutch society life and be part of »bestuur«! And while I missed a bit more social side-study life and to do some organising job, as I did at home (scouting), my decision to do some nice events for SoSalsa! as activity commissioner was done ;). The rest about me can be explored on the spot, so see you on our very best parties, borrels, MO ... or just like that.
Joeri
iHola dear visitor of the virtual environment of SoSalsa! This is your activity-commissioner speaking for the second part of this academic year. My name is Joeri (23), and I am currently studying for a master degree in Architecture. Now let me tell you something about my past.
When I went to school in Groningen, before coming to Delft, I've always been visiting a lot of concerts. I created a big passion for it, enjoying all different kinds of music such as reggae, jazz, African music and eventually Caribbean and Latin music. I think this was the time when salsa really came to me. It was impossible to resist the atmosphere created by a Cuban band, with lots of people dancing in front of them, simply having the best time of their lives. Yes, why not take a try-out lesson? Then there was this very nice and enthusiastic Cuban dance teacher who ran a dance-school and a bar. The environment was great and I took a few courses there with some friends.
Starting as a freshman in Delft I immediately took a salsa-course at the Cultural Centre. SoSalsa! still had to be born at that time. When I repeated this action of taking salsa-classes at the Cultural Centre 2 years later (I did no dancing in between) I dragged myself into the society at the end of the first board's year. I joined SoCial! the following year, doing most of the graphical work on flyers and noticias, and I also entered SoShow!
Right now I'm responsible for one of the pivots of our society (SoFiƫsta!) and I am still in SoShow! (and its committee).
I'm looking forward to see you at a party, borrel or members-only activity! SoSalsa! is such a great group of people!
